1/100th Scale Godzilla 2014 Statue
Hey there, been meaning to share this for a while now. About 6 months back a friend and I decided to take on a huge undertaking. We decided to sculpt a 1/100th scale (3.5 ft and about 9 feet long) statue of the 2014 Godzilla. We spent a very very very long time on all the details. Our goal was to make this THE BEST Godzilla 2014 statue out there. Did we succeed? I don't know, I'd like to think so, but that's up to everyone else to decide. For now here is the first pic in a series I'll be sharing over the next week on my page. Here's a close up look it.

Hi there everyone,

So I've been doing work for Legendary Pictures (they're the studio behind the dark knight, watchmen, man of steel, 300, etc) for almost 3 years now. I'll soon be able to share some work that I did for them a while back that I'm SUPER EXCITED to finally put out there. Due to NDA's and all that I haven't been able to share some of the sculptures and maquette's I've done for the studio for over 2 years now. However after May I'll finally be able to share all that work. So stay tuned :)

Over the last year or so I've been doing a lot of sculpts for their Comic's division. I recently did some sculptures for their graphic novel called The Tower Chronicles, and last month I finished another piece for their new upcoming graphic novel called Shadow Walk. I sculpted the main character called John Raines. This time instead of just sculpting the piece and turning it, we decided to record the whole process with a Go Pro camera. The result was over 15 hours worth of video condensed into a 1 minute time lapse vid of the whole piece being sculpted from beginning all the way up to the painting. Check it out the interview below as well as the time lapse video of the sculpture. If you're an inspiring sculptor then it's definitely worth checking out, if only to see how a piece goes from start to finish. Enjoy!

You can see it here: legendarycomics.tumblr.com/pos…

I've also now opened up my online store where you can purchase the most recent sculpts I've done.

Check that out here: www.hectorarcesculpture.bigcartel.com

I'm once again taking commissions as well, if interested send me a note or an email to harcesculpture@gmail.com

Cheers,
Hector

Hector Arce
Artist | Professional | Traditional Art
United States
Professional Sculptor from Los Angeles. Working freelance in the industry. Employers include Legendary Pictures, Dreamworks, Triad Toys, Entangled Entertainment, 13 Coins, along with many others. Specializing in creating and designing creatures and characters using traditional sculpting techniques to create production models and maquettes.

Hector Arce learned sculpting while attending El Camino College in Torrance, CA from professor Russ McMillian and then furthered his skills while attending Cal State Long Beach. Hector started off with small scale commissions with the philosophy of giving the client an original and one of a kind piece at a reasonable price. The focus was to help up and coming businesses in the comic book and movie industries visualize and realize their characters in a 3D statue format. This eventually led to work with much larger production studios such as Legendary Pictures, Warner Bros and DreamWorks working one and one with producers and directors for such projects as Godzilla, Lost Patrol, Robo Apocalypse and Harlem Dogs.

Hector is currently the founder of Mute City Productions, an up and coming design company specializing in models and production maquettes.

Aside from working with larger scale studios, Hector still enjoys taking on smaller scale commissions from anyone interested in realizing their creations in a 3D sculpture format. All with the idea that in order to be successful in art, you must be willing to share your art.

Feel free to contact Hector directly if you or your company is interested in a custom statue, production model, maquette, or display figure for your comic con, wonder con, or any con's booth or table.
